Viswa Bharathi University, Raipur has been established an act of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly under Chhattisgarh Niji Kshetra Viswavidyalaya (Sthapana Aur Vinayaman) Adhiniyam , 2002 as published in the Gazette Notification No. F 73-57/2003/HE/38 as a State University as defined in section 2(1) of University Grants Commission Act. The University is established with the objective of imparting high-end and industry relevant education to equip the prospective incumbents of the wheels of industry with skills and managerial capabilities to accomplish the objectives entrusted to them.

Viswa Bharathi University provides education and training, certification in the areas of technology, applied sciences and management degree and postdoctoral qualification. The university offers conventional as well as industry related, job oriented, restructured programmes at bachelor and master degree levels. The major thrust areas of learning identified to this end are technology, applied sciences, life sciences, management and commerce.

Viswa Bharathi University offers the various Diploma and Bachelor Degree, Master Degree programmes in the areas afore stated in its main campus located in the state of Chhattisgarh and at the constituent / extension centers located in different parts of the Country and abroad. The campus based programmes and off campus programmes are conducted in absolute alignment without any distinction in terms of the quality of the programme or the contents of the programme.

Viswa Bharathi University sponsored by Viswa Bharathi Educational development society, a non-profit oriented organization has been promoted by eminent personalities from different walks of life. The society came into existence due to the active participation and involvement of sri A.V.V. Raju, a renowned academician, philanthropist, social activist, sri A.V.V. Raju committed to the social cause of promoting value based education is at the helm of several educational societies which are managing several prestigious educational institutions have celebrated their decennial functions in the year 2002-2003.

The various programmes offered by Viswa Bharathi University and the delivery structure of the programmes, instruction delivery methodology are governed by the vision of the governing and academic council consisting of experienced and renowned academicians.

In consistency with what has been stated, supra Viswa Bharathi University allows for innovation, flexibility, the emerging trends and the needs of the employers of 21st century in the design, content and quality and offer modes of programmes accordingly. The placement wing functions as an independent responsible center. Apart from the placement activities the wing strives to promote coordination with industry and to asses the industrial requirements. On these lines it will be developed in to the status of a center of excellence.

Viswa Bharathi University has chalked out plans to have tie-up with universities and Institutions on National and International level by entering into MOU. Through this Viswa Bharathi University shares information with the rest of the Universities and institutions in the world. Student exchange programmes, technology summits, workshops on subjects of mutual interest, joint research projects will be undertaken to facilitate knowledge dissemination.
